Description
B33: British 3rd RTR & 3rd Mons Battlegroup, 11th Armoured Division, NW Europe, 9th-30th September 1944
List type: armour
In practice the 11th Armoured Division became adept at forming battlegroups by pairing tank regiments with infantry battalions. Through most of September 1944 these pairings were fairly permanent, even though the regiments were sufficiently capable of pairing up with different infantry battalions at differing times. This list details another such pairing, the 3rd Royal Tank Regiment and 3rd Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment.
This is about the nearest the British get to a Kampfgruppe, and it was fairly unique to the 11th Armoured Division.
